Schedule a Book Talk for your music team on the main topics from my book, Music As a Vehicle: A Practical Guide to Implementing Culturally Responsive Teaching in Today’s Music Classrooms!
I am super excited to announce my newest offering, The Music As a Vehicle Book Talks!
Book talks are 90-minute interactive learning sessions delivered virtually or in-person on the four main areas of the book, plus an opportunity for me to walk you and your group through one of the strategies from the book. Plus each book talk comes with books for every participant!
In a book talk, participants will learn:
- Why developing a mindset to “see” equity is the pivotal first step towards creating a culturally responsive music program
- How moving beyond knowing students, to understanding them helps you to create the conditions necessary for an affirming learning environment where teachers and students work in partnership
- How to leverage repertoire to support a culturally responsive music program beyond just being “diverse”
- Ways to center music curriculum development around relevant, real-world contexts of music making that demonstrate to students why music matters
Book talks are for school, district, and organization K-12 music teams as well as college/university music education students who are looking to learn more about practical, culturally responsive practices for the K-12 music classroom.
I would love to bring a book talk to you and your group! Book talks are currently $2,500 + books for each participant + travel. Book by December 20th, 2024, to receive an early booking discount!
Click here to book a call to discuss the details, or forward this information along to the person in your organization who would be responsible for setting up the book talk. I hope I can bring the book talk to you and your group next year, I currently have 4 spots available from February-April 2025.
